Is your Airbnb really private?

Christina and I have spent extensive time traveling together over the past 16 years and have always specifically sought out the same thing: Wonderful places in nature that are private and uncommon. While we have enjoyed visiting many breathtaking short term rentals around the world, we have also wound up in places that were very far from what was advertised. We kept thinking to ourselves, “do we have a misunderstanding of the word privacy”? Or, should we question why there are two units within 40 feet of one another when the advertisement says “private hidden cottage on 4.5 acres”? If we are technical, you could have ten cottages on 4.5 acres, close all the blinds and still offer privacy and make true that each cottage is “on 4.5 acres”… You get the point. Time and time again we felt Airbnb rentals and other short term rentals fell very far short of their descriptions, ESPECIALLY when it came to privacy.
When Christina and I decided to enter into short term renting we wanted to create an exaggeration of what our good experiences have been and eliminate any chance that we could be offering something that even remotely misrepresented itself. We know that people have very little, precious time to get away with their love ones and wanted to offer something that was unforgettable. So we have made every effort to have something unexpected, that only exceeds expectations. When we say privacy we mean it. Privacy means you will NOT see any other person on the property your renting. You should be able to walk outside and in all directions, see nothing but nature and no one should be able to see you. Privacy means you should not have any cars on your driveway. Except if you leave your gate open and the mailman comes down the road. And yes, privacy means you get a gate to your unit.
It's not that we believe human interaction is bad, but with all the noise in the world today, we believe that people need time to unwind in beautiful spaces, undisturbed by others, and experience the recovery that nature can provide. We feel #TheWoodlandOasis provides this.
Believe it or not the overwhelming majority of questions we get asked before people decide to book are directly related to how private it is. Even so far as several guests asking specifically how many feet they would be from a neighbor. Unlike many other airbnb hosts, we love this question! We have experienced great joy in reading the responses we have had from guests describing their experience as “amazing” and “unexpected” as many of them have struggled to find the same thing Christina and I have always sought out: Ultimate Privacy, Nature, and Something Unexpected.
